Ameren Missouri – Founded in 1902, Ameren Missouri (NYSE: AEE) is Missouri’s largest electric utility providing energy services to approximately 1.2 million customers across center and eastern Missouri, including most of St. Charles County. As a regulated utility, Ameren’s rates are nearly 35% below the national average and among the lowest in the nation, according to the Edison Electric Institute.
Cuivre River Electric Cooperative – Approximately 25% of all homes in St. Charles County are served by the Cuivre River Electric Cooperative (CREC), Missouri’s largest electric distribution cooperative. This non-profit utility provides energy to 56,000 homes and businesses in St. Charles, Lincoln, Pike and Warren Counties.
Gas
Laclede Gas Company – Founded in 1857, Laclede Gas (NYSE:LG) is a regulated public utility and the largest natural gas distribution company in Missouri. The company serves more than 630,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, and parts of seven other counties in eastern Missouri.
Laclede Gas Company is now called Spire.
Note: AmerenUE also provides natural gas service to 900,000 customers in Missouri and Illinois, including portions of St. Charles County.
Telecommunications
AT&T Missouri – AT&T (NYSE:T) is the largest communications holding company in the United States and worldwide by revenue, and serves millions of customers in Missouri and its 22 state region. AT&T Missouri is the largest provider of broadband and Internet-based products and services in St. Charles County and has four Fiber Parks in the region.
CenturyLink – CenturyLink (NYSE:CTL) is a leading provider of communications, high-speed Internet and entertainment services in small to mid-sized cities through their broadband and fiber transport networks. Locally headquartered in Wentzville, the company has invested more than $20 million in their infrastructure in recent years to serve the growing needs of St. Charles County.
Charter Communications – Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: CCMM) is a Fortune 500 company and the fourth-largest cable operator in the United States, providing advanced video, high-speed Internet, and telephone services to approximately 5.5 million residential and business customers in Missouri and 26 other states
Water
Missouri American Water Company – Serving approximately 1.3 million people across Missouri, the Missouri American Water Company is the largest regulated water utility in the state and a subsidiary of American Water headquartered in New Jersey.
Public Water Supply District No. 2 – Once a small rural water utility, Public Water Supply District No. 2 of
St. Charles County has grown into the largest water district in Missouri, encompassing over 400 square miles and serving about 75,000 people.
Wastewater
Duckett Creek Sanitary District – Duckett Creek Sanitary District provides sanitary sewer service to nearly 40,000 customers in southern and western sections of St .Charles County and has some of the lowest rates in Missouri. Duckett Creek also designed and built the first membrane bioreactor (MBR) treatment plant in the Midwest.
