I find myself so busy in December and January selling homes, and every year I’m always surprised by that. I shouldn’t be, I know. If you think about it, it makes sense. If a family is going to move in the middle of the school year it would be before the start of, or right at the start of, the new semester. (if they can help it and have a choice) I have been the busiest in St. Charles county and St. Louis County, helping buyers find a new place and sellers sell their home. Of course, it would be nice to have more inventory to show the buyers! Most people think because it’s cold, or too near the holidays it’s not a good time to put their home on the market, and it’s just not the case. Other buyers, ones that do not have to think about moving at the start of a new semester for their children, are thinking about the new year…because it IS a new year! They anticipate their taxes coming back and the extra cash to help them with their down payment or closing costs. Investors are looking for new places to start their new adventures. Investors, keep in mind, your new rental property on the market will be a great sight for the renters looking this time of year also!
